Larkana roads, streets turn water ponds

LARKANA: A leader of JUI-F Larkana and Larkana Awami Ittehad, Muhabbat Ali Khuhro, said Saturday that due to the worst drainage system in Larkana city, the roads and streets are looking like water ponds despite low downpour.

Due to wrong planning and the worst corruption, poor pavers have been laid which have destroyed the beauty of the city, he said while talking to newsmen. He said that due to the lack of comprehensive planning, the level of houses, shops and markets is below the level of the streets, roads and sewage drains on the other side.

It is a shame that the city’s disposals have been rendered dysfunctional and millions of rupees are being squandered daily in oil, most of the cleaning staff are on visas and some of the employees are doing their duties as private servants in the bungalows of the ruling elite and elected representatives, which is causing severe problems for Eid shopping including the children of Larkana due to stagnant rainwater.

He warned the Sindh government and the district administration of Larkana that before the Eid, the city should be cleaned by draining the dirty water and making the city clean or else large protests will be held in front of the offices of commissioner and deputy commissioner. He said that the people’s party is considering Larkana as their family estate after winning the local election by the worst rigging, which is their mistake.

It should be remembered, he added, that we are the real inheritors of Larkana, we are together with JUI and Larkana Awami Ittehad to solve the problems of the city. He warned that if the incompetent Sindh government and the district administration of Larkana, who have made the city a pool of dirty water after rains and a heap of garbage, do not correct their actions, then we will solve the basic problems of Larkana, including the cleanliness of the city. If we call the conscious citizens to protest, then the representatives of the fake local bodies elected by the PPP will not find a place to hide their faces, he added.
