Launch of the World Environment Day Tree Plantation Campaign at Governor House, every citizen should plant at least one tree: Appeal by Governor Sindh

The Governor of Sindh, Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi, emphasized the urgent need for environmental protection, declaring it the most important necessity of our time. In a ceremony held today at Governor House on World Environment Day, he stressed the significant impacts of climate change on Pakistan and advocated for collective awareness and strategic intervention to mitigate its effects.

Pakistan is facing severe challenges due to climate change, and Governor Hashmi highlighted the importance of adopting sustainable practices. He appealed for an eco-friendly lifestyle and responsible resource usage to address these issues. The Governor specifically identified excessive plastic use, water wastage, and uncontrolled deforestation as key areas needing immediate attention.

He stressed the need for a united effort to establish a clean, safe, and healthy environment for future generations. Planting trees, he said, is not just a campaign but a commitment towards a secure future for the coming generations.

Governor Hashmi reaffirmed Governor House’s commitment to supporting all positive environmental initiatives, including reducing pollution and promoting greenery throughout Sindh. At the conclusion of the event, he initiated the tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling, appealing to the public to contribute by planting at least one tree. According to him, protecting the environment is a shared national duty.
