A sweeping four-day traffic enforcement operation in Islamabad has resulted in penalties against more than 9,000 individuals and the seizure of over 2,500 vehicles, signaling a significant intensification of efforts to curb traffic violations across the federal capital.

The capital police informed today that special operations, which ran from October 1st to October 4th, were initiated following the expiration of a prior deadline and conducted under the special directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.

During the extensive campaign, authorities impounded more than 2,500 motorcycles and automobiles at various police stations and registered FIRs against the offenders.

The infractions included 411 for lane discipline breaches, 346 for running red lights and using non-standard number plates, and 273 for double riding. Additionally, actions were taken against 84 motorists for driving without a license and 42 for underage driving, among a range of other traffic offenses.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Islamabad, Capt. (retd) Hamzah Humayun, urged all drivers to act responsibly and comply with traffic laws to avoid legal consequences. He emphasized that driving without a license is a danger to both the driver and others on the road.

‘The Islamabad Traffic Police will not allow anyone to jeopardize the safety of citizens,’ Humayun stated, adding, ‘This campaign is for your safety and the safety of other citizens.’

The police force affirmed that maintaining a well-regulated traffic system and ensuring the provision of better travel facilities for residents remain its top priorities.
