LCA demands saving 30% guava orchids and other crops

LARKANA: Mukesh, Executive Engineer, Dadu Canal is deliberately reducing the water supply through Dadu Canal, destroying thousands of acres of guava gardens, sugarcane, vegetables and other crops.

This was stated by Sirajul Oliya Rashdi, President, Larkana Chamber of Agriculture (LCA) in a statement issued here on Thursday. He said that Mukesh was working on an unknown person’s agenda because the LCA and Sindh Hari Abadgar Board had demanded the government of Sindh in a joint meeting that uninterrupted irrigation water supply to the leftover agricultural fields and lands must be ensured to prevent food shortage in the future in the wake of devastating floods which was agreed.

He said an emergency meeting of the LCA was held here today which was participated by agriculturists and landlords in which it was again demanded that the guava orchids have already been destroyed to the extent of 70% due to the floods, now 30% of the crops are also being destroyed and wheat crop is being deliberately not supplied required water to destroy Rabi crops due to the sheer negligence of Irrigation Department engineers. He demanded stern action against the XEN Dadu Canal Mukesh for deliberately harming the country’s economy and creating probable food scarcity here in the future.
