Islamabad Capital Police on Monday arrested a man and he allegedly confessed to the murder of a woman whose body was found in G-12 Sector. The accused, identified as Muhammad Aslam, confessed to killing the victim after severely beating and torturing her during initial interrogation.
The investigation commenced after the Sumbal police station was notified about the recovery of an unidentified woman”s body. An official report, FIR No. 79/26, was subsequently registered, prompting a comprehensive inquiry into the apparent homicide.
A joint operation involving the Sumbal police and the Homicide Unit successfully tracked down the suspect. Investigators utilised advanced technological resources, including footage from Safe City cameras and other digital forensics, to identify and locate Muhammad Aslam.
Following his arrest, legal proceedings against the accused have been initiated. Authorities have confirmed that further investigation into the case is in progress to gather additional evidence.
DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq stated that the city”s police force is taking resolute action to curb crime and violence in the federal capital. He assured that the accused will be prosecuted on the basis of solid evidence to ensure an exemplary punishment is handed down.
The DIG further emphasised that Islamabad Police are employing all available resources to safeguard the lives and property of residents.
Police officials have also urged the public to cooperate by reporting any suspicious individuals or activities. Citizens are encouraged to contact their nearest police station or use the emergency helpline ‘Pucar-15’ to contribute to creating a crime-free society.
