Man arrested for harassing family in Gulshan-e-Hadeed Karachi under guise of police inquiry, departmental inquiry ordered

Police authorities on Saturday arrested a man in Gulshan-e-Hadeed for allegedly harassing a family under the guise of an official police inquiry. Following the incident, a departmental inquiry has also been initiated into the conduct of the involved police officer and relevant personnel.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir took immediate notice of the matter after receiving a formal complaint from the affected Dewan family, residing within the limits of Steel Town Police Station.

According to the family’s statement, a man came to their house claiming to be conducting a police investigation and subsequently behaved inappropriately.

Upon receiving the information, law enforcement agencies took prompt action, arresting the accused, identified as Chakar Khan, and registered a case against him.

On the directive of SSP Malir, a complete and transparent inquiry into the incident has been initiated. Additionally, a separate departmental investigation has been ordered to scrutinize the actions of the involved police officer and personnel.

SSP Malir has clarified that no member of the police force is permitted to take any action outside the bounds of the law, emphasizing that every officer is bound to ensure the respect and protection of all citizens.

The official statement reiterated the commitment that the police are always ready to protect the trust of the citizens and uphold the rule of law.
