The Meteorological Department’s Quetta Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) on Wednesday issued a weather advisory, stating that weak moist currents are penetrating the southeastern parts of Balochistan, while a predominantly continental air mass continues to prevail over most areas of the province.
According to the Met Office, mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of Balochistan during the next 24 hours, while southern districts are likely to experience very hot and humid conditions. However, partly cloudy to cloudy weather, accompanied by thunderstorms, rain, windstorms and the possibility of light hail or pellets, is expected in Barkhan, Musakhel, Dukki, Harnai, Loralai, Qila Saifullah, Zhob, Sherani, Quetta, Kohlu, Ziarat and Khuzdar during the evening and night hours.
The department also warned that dust-laden gusty winds are likely to affect northern and northwestern parts of the province over the next 24 hours.
For the next 48 hours, the Met Office has forecast that hot and dry weather will continue in most districts, with very hot and humid conditions persisting in southern areas. However, partly cloudy to cloudy weather with chances of thunderstorms, rain and windstorms is expected in Barkhan, Musakhel, Dukki, Harnai, Loralai, Qila Saifullah, Zhob, Sherani, Kohlu and Ziarat. Dust storms and strong gusty winds are also likely in northern and northwestern regions during the period.
During the last 24 hours, Barkhan received 6 millimetres of rainfall, while Loralai recorded 0.5 millimetres.
The highest temperatures recorded across the province were 48.0°C in Nokkundi, 47.5°C in Sibbi, 47.0°C in Usta Muhammad, and 46.5°C in Dalbandin. Other notable temperatures included Turbat 44.0°C, Panjgur 43.5°C, Lasbella 41.0°C, Uthal 40.5°C, Khuzdar 39.0°C, Quetta 39.0°C, Samungli 38.5°C, Zhob 38.5°C, Quetta RMC 38.5°C, Quetta Sariab 37.0°C, Ormara 36.0°C, Barkhan 35.5°C, Pasni 35.0°C, Jiwani 34.0°C, Kalat 34.0°C and Gwadar 33.0°C.
