Minister monitors relief operation in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Sindh Minister for Irrigation Department Jam Khan Shoro on Friday visited several rain affected areas of Hyderabad to review the overall situation following the heavy rainfall of monsoon season and also monitored the relief and rescue operations carried out by the District Administration and other line departments.

Shoro inspected rain-hit areas of Hyderabad, including Qasimabad, and also checked functionality of main pumping stations located in Latifabad. He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Faud Ghaffar Soomro.

Shoro said that the Sindh government was taking all possible measures to protect the life and property of the people in view of the recent monsoon rains. He directed the officers of the district administration and others to take steps for immediate draining out of the rainwater from all areas including low-lying areas of Hyderabad.

He said that people should not leave their homes unnecessarily keeping in view heavy rainfall forecast and added that the District Administration of Hyderabad and the officers of the relevant departments should remain alert during the monsoon rains.
