Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, on Wednesday said that minorities in Pakistan enjoy equal rights and complete religious freedom.

He was addressing an official ceremony here in Islamabad organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony to celebrate the Hindu festival of Holi.

The Minister emphasized that Pakistan is a peaceful country where all citizens are entitled to constitutional rights and facilities without discrimination.

Highlighting the contribution of minorities to the country’s development, he noted that minorities have significant representation in the Senate, National Assembly, and Provincial Assemblies.

Sardar Muhammad Yousaf said that separate funds have been allocated for the welfare of minority communities and the upkeep of their religious sites.

He said a 5% job quota has been reserved for minorities, and seats have also been allocated for them in prominent educational institutions.

Condemning the ongoing atrocities in Gaza, the Federal Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s consistent support for the rights of the Palestinian people.

Minister of State for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Keeso Mal Kheal Das, also addressed the event, stating that minorities play a vital role in Pakistan’s progress and prosperity.

He expressed deep concern over the silence of international human rights organizations on the oppression of Muslims in Gaza and Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The event was attended by prominent members of minority communities, including women and children.
