Mirwaiz asks India, Pakistan to benefit from SCO summit to resolve Kashmir dispute

Srinagar, September 14, 2022 (PPI-OT):Senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has called upon prime ministers of India and Pakistan to take the opportunity of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, going to be held in Uzbekistan this week, to break ice in their relations and hold talks for resolving all outstanding issues including the Kashmir dispute.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who is under illegal house detention in a statement in Srinagar said that post August 2019 situation in Jammu and Kashmir is volatile, yet appearing ‘calm’ due to extreme sway of power on people, and if flared up can bring catastrophe to the whole South Asian region.

“The Kashmir conflict has to be addressed and dialogue among stakeholders is the best way for its peaceful resolution. We once again urge both India and Pakistan to join hand and take the process forward.” Mirwaiz asked India to stop use of force, release all political prisoners, rights activists, youth and journalists, languishing in jails across India to make the atmosphere conducive for the Kashmir settlement.
