MMU strongly condemns arrest of religious scholars

Srinagar, September 19, 2022 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema, headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and has strongly condemned the arrest of religious scholars. According to Kashmir Media Service, Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema, an amalgam of all religious and social organisations across the Kashmir valley, in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the detentions were aimed at silencing their voices against the grabbing of thousands of kanals of Waqf land and property.

It deplored that the Modi regime had stooped to a new low to arrest innocent ulema under draconian laws like Public Safety Act and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act to rob the Kashmiris of their distinct religious and cultural identity. The MMU pointed out that besides grabbing Waqf land, a fresh arrest spree of political activists and religious leaders is meant to pave the way for forcible implementation of Hindutva agenda in IIOJK.
