Modi’s Policies Seen as Threat to South Asian Peace

Experts and officials have voiced concerns that the aggressive policies of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are posing a significant threat to peace and security in South Asia. These concerns highlight ongoing tensions and the impact of India’s policies on regional stability. According to Kashmir Media Service, since gaining independence in 1947, India has consistently obstructed peaceful resolutions to the Kashmir dispute, with these tensions escalating significantly since Modi assumed office in 2014. The revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status on August 5, 2019, is cited as a particularly aggressive move that disregards regional peace. Experts also criticize India’s historical use of state terrorism in suppressing the self-determination movements in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). In contrast, Pakistan has been actively pursuing peace initiatives, though these efforts are often undermined by India’s actions, which have strained bilateral relations further. The internatio
nal community is being urged to recognize and address India’s destabilizing role in the region, with calls for global pressure to foster a more conducive environment for peace in South Asia. The situation remains tense, with Pakistan committed to peace but hindered by what it sees as India’s provocative policies under Modi.
