More than 2,000 police officers and officials were deployed across the federal capital to ensure security for the Christian community”s Easter celebrations, implementing stringent measures that included thorough body searches for entry into all churches.
The comprehensive security plan was implemented following special instructions issued today by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, who stressed on extensive arrangements for the security of the festival.
Security was bolstered not only at places of worship but also within the residential areas of the Christian community throughout the district, according to an official police statement.
In a parallel effort to prevent public inconvenience, a significant contingent of traffic police was also mobilised to manage vehicle flow and ensure orderly parking arrangements near celebration venues.
Senior police officers conducted visits to various security points to review the deployment and instructed personnel on the ground to maintain high levels of vigilance and alertness.
The security strategy included the deployment of mobile patrolling units and special squads to monitor the district effectively. Officers were tasked with keeping a strict watch on the surroundings and any suspicious individuals.
A directive was also issued to ensure all worshippers were treated with courtesy and respect, reaffirming that all available resources were being utilised for the protection of minority rights and the maintenance of public order.
The Islamabad Police stated that its foremost priority remains the safeguarding of citizens” lives and property.
