Motorcycle License Instant Issuance System Introduced, Crackdown Warning

Traffic authorities in Rawalpindi have issued a warning of strict legal action and heavy fines against unlicensed motorcyclists following the conclusion of a public awareness campaign and the introduction of a new, fast-track licensing system.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam announced on Monday that the mandatory 42-day waiting period between a learner’s permit and a permanent motorcycle license has been eliminated. Under the new directive, motorcyclists can now be issued both documents on the same day.

The CTO revealed that as a result of this streamlined process, available at 13 centers across the district, 20,500 motorcycle licenses were issued last month alone. The move, described as a relief for local riders, is being implemented under the vision of DIG Traffic Punjab Waqas Nazir.

Emphasizing that riding a motorcycle without a license is a legal offense, Aslam urged citizens to obtain their permits promptly to avoid heavy fines and legal action.

The City Traffic Police is currently focused on an awareness campaign to educate the public about the importance of being licensed. However, the CTO confirmed that a formal crackdown against violators will be initiated after this phase concludes.
