The Movement for the Protection of the Constitution of Pakistan has announced a nationwide strike on February 8.
Speaking with trader leaders and citizen representatives in Sakrand on Sunday, the central leader of the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution of Pakistan, Syed Zain Shah, described the strike as necessary for the supremacy of the constitution and the rule of law.
During a meeting at the office of the Shehri Ittehad Tajiran, Shah detailed the growing difficulties faced by the public. He cited rampant inflation, rising unemployment, a decline in business activities, and continuous increases in electricity and gas tariffs as key factors causing severe hardship.
The movement’s leader also highlighted the deteriorating situation of basic civic amenities in several cities, including Nawabshah. He identified sanitation, health, education, access to clean drinking water, transport, and law and order as sectors that have reached a “grave situation” and for which there is a lack of seriousness at the official level to resolve.
Addressing the local community, Shah declared Sakrand his own city and appealed to every citizen to make a “one-day sacrifice” for the protection of the constitution. He emphasized that a collective effort is essential for the future of the country’s children and the building of a better Pakistan.
The leaders of the Shehri Ittehad Tajiran, including Co-Chairman Arsalan Qureshi and Senior Vice President Munir Khokhar, welcomed the delegation and presented Shah with a traditional Ajrak. Social and civic leaders, along with other prominent traders, were also present on the occasion.
