Islamabad, September 27, 2022 (PPI-OT):26th meeting of the Standing Committee on National Food Security and Research (NFS and R) was held under the Chairmanship of Rao Muhammad Ajmal Khan, MNA, in the Committee Room of National Agriculture Research Center (NARC), Chak Shahzad, Islamabad.
2. The Committee recommended that the Provinces should ensure the provision of free wheat seed for flood-affected areas through a transparent mechanism at the earliest.
3. The Committee discussed the issues of encroached land of Agriculture Research Center, Baluchistan in detail and directed that Chairman PARC may coordinate with the concerned authorities to vacate the land of Agriculture Research Center in Baluchistan and correspondence with authorities will also be shared with the Committee.
4. The Committee also discussed the pay and pension issues of the employees of the Pakistan Central Cotton Committee (PCCC) in detail and directed the concerned authorities to resolve the issue at the earliest.
5. The Committee rejected “The National Food Safety, Animal and Plant Health Regulatory Authority Act, 2021” moved by Rai Muhammad Murtaza Iqbal, MNA and “The Safe Milk and Dairy Bill, 2021” moved by Ms. Nafeesa Inayat ullah Khan Khattak, MNA due to the continuous absence of the Movers.
6. The Committee deferred the Matter regarding Ayub Agriculture Research Institute, Faisalabad and the Proposal of the Provincial Government for declaration of “Bahawalpur Agriculture Research Institute as a Secretariat of South Punjab” (moved by Raja Riaz Ahmad, MNA and Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, MNA). The Committee further deferred the Started Question No. 132 (moved by Sheikh Fayyaz Ud Din, MNA) till its next meeting.
7. MNAs, Mr. Riaz ul Haq, Ch. Muhammad Ashraf, Ch. Faqir Ahmed, Syed Javed Ali Shah Jillani, Mr. Zulfiqar Sattar Bachani, Mr. Kamal Ud-din, and senior officers/ officials from the Ministry of NFS and R, Ministry of Law and Justice and NARC attended the meeting.
