In his special message today on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has strongly condemned the atrocities against women and children in occupied Kashmir and Palestine, and termed these actions a “serious violation of international humanitarian laws.”
The Speaker also expressed concern over the incidents in Iran and called the martyrdom of female students there “regrettable and condemnable.”
Speaking on the domestic front, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq stressed that effective legislation to end violence against women is a government priority. He termed “The Domestic Violence Prevention Act 2026” by the Parliament as a significant step towards the protection of women.
He stressed that national development is not possible without empowering women, and highlighted that their effective participation in education, health, employment, and leadership is essential for the country’s progress.
The Speaker highlighted that Islam provides women with honor, dignity, and equal rights.
He welcomed the active representation of women in the Parliament and termed the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif as “clear evidence of women’s capabilities.”
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also paid tribute to the democratic services of prominent female political figures including Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and Mohtarma Begum Kulsoom Nawaz. He also praised the services of other founding women leaders like Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah and Mohtarma Ra’ana Liaquat Ali Khan.
The Speaker appreciated the important role of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus in empowering women and termed the launch of the Pakistan Women Leaders Portal by the Caucus to highlight women’s issues as a welcome step.
