Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, today announced the National Immigration Policy 2026, marking a significant turning point in managing labor migration in Pakistan. This policy highlights the support of Pakistani citizens seeking opportunities abroad and focuses on safe and organized migration, skill enhancement, and worker protection.
In a rapidly changing global landscape influenced by technological advancements and demographic changes, Pakistan is striving to better prepare its workforce for future needs. The new National Immigration and Welfare Policy 2026 aims to align the country’s labor force with these changing requirements so that Pakistani workers are equipped with essential skills and knowledge before going abroad.
Currently, twelve million Pakistanis reside internationally, playing a significant role in the economy through remittances, which reached an unprecedented 41 billion dollars in the last fiscal year. The welfare of these overseas Pakistanis is a national priority, as their contributions reflect national success.
This policy is the result of extensive collaboration between federal and provincial governments, enforcement agencies, employers, training institutions, and overseas communities. Chaudhry Salik Hussain thanked all partners, highlighting the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council in finalizing the policy.
This initiative envisions a migratory journey filled with opportunities and dignity, aiming for every overseas Pakistani worker to remain connected to their homeland, which values their contributions.
