Prominent religious scholar Allama Nasir Madni was taken to a hospital in Multan in critical condition after reportedly suffering a heart attack while delivering a Friday sermon at a mosque in Punjab’s Jahanian town, according to media reports.
The incident occurred shortly before Friday prayers as Madni was addressing worshippers. Witnesses said he suddenly became unwell while speaking from the pulpit.
According to eyewitness accounts, the scholar recited the Kalima before collapsing. They said he completed the declaration twice and fell from the pulpit while reciting it for a third time.
Worshippers and mosque staff immediately administered first aid before transferring him to a hospital in Multan for specialized medical treatment.
Media reports said DSP Jahanian Malik Abdul Majeed was present inside the mosque at the time of the incident.
