(National): Sindh facing human rights violations: Haleem Adil

Karachi:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice President and leader of Parliamentary Party in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh has claimed that the province of Sindh has been facing the worsening human rights violations.

According to details, Haleem Adil along with the team of his lawyers led by Advocate Shahid Soomro presented him before the Sindh Human Rights Commission. The Commission had taken a suo moto notice of an accusation of violation of human rights allegedly by Haleem Adil during the elections of 2019 for Ghotki sad and served him notice.

Haleem Adil, on the occasion, alleged that in Sindh the situation of human rights is worsening. He charged the government of Sindh had formed this commission to safeguard the rights of its own party in 2011 with an annual budget of millions of rupees.

He said Sindh government was involved in irregularities and rigging in the Ghotki election last year. He said when he went there he was served five notices in a single day. He said on July 23 an FIR was filed and five notices given to him. He said when Shahbaz Sharif had said that he would hang his opponents from an electricity pole, no one took notice. Now these political opponents have become fast friends. He claimed some people belonging to the PPP are in this commission and its aim is to suppress the political opponents. He said notices are served to silence the voice of Haleem Adil.

He said every month notices were sent to me and today he has came here. He said he had nothing to do with the allegations. Criticizing the commission, he said one MPA said warned the people of Kambar to fix their minds but the Sindh human rights commission did not take notice. He said the speaker of Sindh Assembly had said he urinates on the votes of people no notice was taken. He said MPA Chandio had said he did not respect the votes of a Takka, but the Commission did not take notice.

He said people from Ratodero to Hyderabad suffered from AIDS and more than 124000 people were bitten by dogs but the Commission was silent again. He said why the commission is not taking notice when the dead bodies are shifted on donkey carts in Sindh. He said the dead bodies from body of a boy from Shikarpur to the dead bodies of children from Jhirk were shifted in this manner but the commission did not take any notice as to why the facilities of ambulance is not being provided to the people of Sindh.

He said human rights violations are ripe in Sindh. He said thousands of rain and flood affected families are homeless, children and girls are being raped and Haris are detained in private jails. He said children are working in factories for Rs2000 per month, but no one takes action. He said when employees protest they are being beaten by police but the commission does not take any action. He said girl students are raped in universities, and now a girl is raped in Clifton but the Sindh Human Rights Commission is silent.

He accused Sindh government of using all its departments and institutions to suppress its political opponents. He asked Bilawal that this commission is also being used for the same purpose. He told Bilawal that whenever he started a campaigning for the rights of Sindh we will support you. He asked Bilawal to start a protest campaign against the supply of gutter mixed drinking water to people, against non-provision of ambulances to shift dead bodies, against not assisting displaced homeless families living on roads and against rampant corruption in Sindh government departments. He said corrupt politicians when caught raise the slogan of Give respect to Vote. He said all thieves had gathered in the all parties conference. They only wanted to befool people.

However, Advocate Shahid Soomro said as per a verdict of the Supreme Court of Pakistan not any judge of province could take a suo moto notice. He said we will challenge the suo moto action of Sindh Human Rights Commission in court.
