On the 14th death anniversary of Arfa Karim, Pakistan’s youngest Microsoft Certified Professional, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif today stated that the new Nawaz Sharif IT City is being established to empower every daughter of the province to follow in the late prodigy’s footsteps.
In a special message, the chief minister paid rich tribute to Arfa Karim, describing her as a shining example for young people, particularly girls, aspiring to excel in information technology. She said the young achiever, who gained global recognition at the age of nine, brought pride to Pakistan and would always be remembered as one of the nation’s most talented daughters.
“Arfa Karim was a source of national pride and a symbol of what Pakistani children can achieve when provided with opportunities,” the chief minister said, adding that her accomplishments continue to inspire future generations.
The provincial head explained that the Nawaz Sharif IT City project was launched to provide modern IT opportunities for the sons and daughters of Punjab, enabling them to compete on a global scale.
According to Ms Sharif, leading international institutions are establishing their campuses in the IT City, which is set to serve as a centre for innovation, skills development, and advanced technology education.
Recalling the young prodigy’s journey, the chief minister noted that she began with Microsoft certification and reached remarkable heights through talent and dedication. “Through the Nawaz Sharif IT City, we aim to take the dreams of our youth to similar heights,” she stated.
She expressed the resolve that the initiative would play a key role in nurturing skilled professionals, promoting digital empowerment, and ensuring every young woman in Punjab had the opportunity to become another Arfa Karim.
