A delegation of senior officers participating in the 46th Mid-Career Management Course (MCMC) at the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Karachi, led by Chief Instructor Syed Ghous Ali Shah, called on Speaker of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, Syed Awais Qadir Shah, today.
On the occasion, the delegation was given a detailed briefing on the legislative process, parliamentary procedures, and the democratic role of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh.
Speaker of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, Syed Awais Qadir Shah, warmly welcomed the delegation and extended his best wishes to the officers. He stated that the Provincial Assembly of Sindh is the oldest legislative institution in the country and holds the historic distinction of having passed the Pakistan Resolution.
The Speaker said that the House is a symbol of democracy, tolerance, and public representation, from where the message of public welfare, inter-provincial harmony, and national unity has always been promoted.
Upon arrival at the Assembly Secretariat, the delegation was received by Secretary of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh G.M. Umar Farooq, Senior Special Secretary MHM Hassan Shah, and Director General Media Irfan Ahmed Memon. Secretary G.M. Umar Farooq gave a detailed briefing on the Assembly’s procedures, stages of legislation, and conduct of House business, while Senior Special Secretary MHM Hassan Shah responded to the officers’ queries.
Following the briefing, the delegation visited the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, where the officers showed keen interest in the Assembly’s history and democratic traditions. The delegation was also taken on a tour of the new Assembly building.
The delegation comprised 28 officers of the 46th Mid-Career Management Course, representing various federal and provincial institutions, autonomous bodies, and public sector organizations.
Chief Instructor Syed Ghous Ali Shah said that the study visit to the Sindh Assembly was an important and mandatory component of the training programme aimed at further enhancing the officers’ administrative capabilities and professional capacity. He added that the visit provided the officers with an opportunity to gain first-hand understanding of democratic institutions, legislation, parliamentary procedures, and governance systems.
At the conclusion of the visit, Chief Instructor Syed Ghous Ali Shah presented a commemorative shield to Speaker of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, Syed Awais Qadir Shah.
