Srinagar, February 23, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police have been unable to find any clue about a man from Lolab, who is missing for last more than 17 months, after he was summoned inside an army camp at Trimukha Post in Bandipora. Senior Superintendent of Police, Kupwara, in a report submitted to Human Rights Commission of the territory, stated that police have been unable to trace the whereabouts of Manzoor Ahmed Khan.
A petition filed before the Commission by rights activist, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, said that on 31st August 2017, Manzoor left for Bandipora for livestock marketing along with his uncle, Jalaluddin Khan and paternal aunt Parveena.
“While passing through the Trimukh Post of 27 RR, Manzoor was called by one Major Nishint Gupta inside the camp. The uncle and aunt were waiting for two hours outside the camp. After waiting for hours, uncle was told by the army officials that Manzoor was released from another gate and was no more with them,” the petition said.
The report filed by police with the Commission said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted on September 4, 2017 which visited the Trimukha Post, prepared site plan and recorded statements of witnesses.
“However, some army personnel were examined on December 11, 2017. During examination, they denied the charges and in fact stated that Manzoor had visited the sentry post at Gate No 1 of the camp located at Trimukha Top on August 31, 2017 for routine entry and soon thereafter left the sentry post on his way towards Bandipora and that he never entered inside the camp,” the report said.
