No effort made to bring over 6.6m out of school children to education in Sindh

LARKANA:The members of Child Rights Advocacy Network have demanded the opening of schools in Sindh on 6th June at any cost because a lot of loss has already been done to the education of children of Sindh.

This was stated by Aneela, Komal, Bilqees, Saba, Kadir Bux, Nisar, Munir Pirzado and others while participating in the meeting of the network held here Wednesday. The meeting noted that with regret that 56% children are still out of school which include 66,53,361 boys and 34,69,533 girls hence a total of 66,63,361 children have been rendered as street children because they are not getting any education anywhere in the province and no serious efforts have so far been taken to bring them to schools to increase literacy rate and meet the global goals.

The meeting further expressed its resentment over closure of as many as 7000 schools in the province which have been closed since long but have never been opened for the benefit of the children. As many as 1.6 million children are studying under open sky while sitting on earth without essential facilities which is extremely worrisome but the relevant authorities have taken no efforts to provide all required material to the schools across the province which shows that they are wilfully destroying education.

They urged the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Chief Justice, Sindh High Court, to take notice of the issue. The meeting also expressed its anger over increase in incidents of sexual assaults, mental and physical torture of children across the province including Larkana. They also urged the parents not to force their children to beggary but provide them education and protection so that they could serve the nation in future as treasure.
