No one would be allowed to hold people hostage: Commissioner Mekran

GWADAR: Commissioner Mekran Division Syed Faisal Ahmed Agha, has said that neither any operation was conducted against the leaders of Haq Du Tehreek, Gwadar nor did any revenge was taken rather a simple action was taken to clear the Express Way area of Gwadar where Haq Du Tehreek, Gwadar had staged protest sit-in, besieging staff of Customs , Gwadar Port, Navy, including foreigners.

Addressing a press conference in the office of Deputy Commissioner, Gwadar here on Saturday, he said that a high level delegation had also arrived from Quetta to hold parleys with the leaders of Haq Du Tehreek, but leaders of HDT, Gwadar did not meet the delegation, adding, “Constitution of the country guarantees freedom of expression and having a meeting with anyone and the said right cannot be snatched by any officers of the department”.

“No one would be allowed to hold people hostage again”, said he, adding that there was no denying the fact that there were no trawlers in the maritime limits of Gwadar. He added that it was not a right that Fisheries Department, Government of Balochistan was not taking action against illegal trawlers rather twelve trawlers had been captured during the last fifty days in different operations conducted by the staff of Fisheries Department.

He said that it was being strived to take action against illegal trawlers involved to fish illegally in the maritime limits, adding that illegal trawlings could be controlled with the help of people and fishermen.

On the occasion, Saifullah Khetran, Director General Fisheries, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Qambrani, Director General, Gwadar Development Authority, Ezat Nazeer, Deputy Commissioner, Gwadar, Najeebullah Pandrani, SSP Gwadar and other officers were also present.
