Additional IG Karachi, Javed Alam Odho, has expressed serious concern over a viral video of police patrolling in official vehicles and motorcycles without number plates in the city. The footage has gained significant attention, following which the police chief has issued strict directives to stop this practice.
To uphold the law and regulations, Odho on Thursday directed all zonal DIGs, SSPs, and relevant officers that no official mobile unit or motorcycle should be operated without a number plate. He stressed that vehicles without numbers not only violate legal principles but also damage the public reputation of law enforcement agencies.
Odho clarified that if any police vehicle or motorcycle is found on the road without a number plate, departmental action will be taken against the responsible officer. This decision reflects the administration’s commitment to maintaining accountability within the force.
Furthermore, the Additional IG urged all field officers to closely supervise their subordinate staff. He warned that any negligence or laxity in the implementation of these directives will not be tolerated, indicating a zero-tolerance policy against such violations.
This development has been officially communicated by the Karachi Police spokesperson, signaling the administration’s resolve to address the issue promptly and effectively.
