No respite in Sindh as Covid kills 20 more

KARACHI: As many as 20 more patients of Coronavirus died overnight in Sindh, lifting the death toll to 5,164 and 575 new cases emerged when 12,660 tests were conducted.

 

This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Tuesday. He added that 20 more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 5,164 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate.

 

Shah said that 12,660 samples were tested which detected 575 cases that constituted 4.5 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 4,222,207 tests had been conducted against which 325,093 cases were diagnosed, of them 91.1 percent or 296,247 patients have recovered, including 743 overnight.

 

The CM said that currently, 23,682 patients were under treatment, of them 22,826 were in home isolation, 20 at isolation centers and 836 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 776 patients were stated to be critical, including 68 shifted to ventilators.

 

According to the statement, out of 575 new cases, 361 have been detected from Karachi, including 127 from East, 72 South, 64 Central, 49 Malir, 25 Korangi and 24 West. Sukkur has 24, Hyderabad 20, Sangahr 16, Badin 15, Nausheroferoze and Umerkot 13 each, Matiari and Mirpurkhas 12 each, Sujawal and Tando Muhammad Khan 11 each, Tharparkr and Thatta nine each, Dadu seven, Ghotki four, Shaheed Benazirabad and Shikarpur three each, Qamber, Kashmore, Khairpur and Larkana one each. The chief minister urged people of the province to follow SOPs.
