NUML Spring Festival 2025 concludes with a celebration of culture, talent, and unity

The National University of Modern Languages (NUML) wrapped up its week-long Spring Festival 2025 with a vibrant and memorable closing ceremony here on Friday, celebrating a rich blend of cultural heritage, student creativity, and international camaraderie.

The festival, which spanned five days, featured a wide array of competitions and events across sports, arts, and academics. Students showcased their talents in cricket, futsal, badminton, table tennis, tug of war, and kabaddi, as well as in creative domains.

The creative domains included- art, calligraphy, naat, qirat, poster and painting exhibitions, bilingual speech contests, the Korean speech contest, ‘Mehfil-e-Moseequi,’ and meta-theatre performances.

In the closing ceremony, awards were distributed to winners and runners-up, applauding their outstanding achievements and enthusiastic participation. The event concluded on a high note with a collective sense of accomplishment and pride.

The NUML Rector Major General (retd) Shahid Mahmood Kayani delivered an inspiring speech to the audience, praising the efforts of both organizers and participants.

He emphasized the importance of unity, empathy, and social responsibility, calling on students to embrace their roles as future leaders.

‘In a world full of challenges, it is unity and mutual respect that will lead us forward,’ he stated. ‘Our youth are the beacon of hope, and seeing your potential assures me that Pakistan’s future is in capable hands.’

Highlighting that 64% of Pakistan’s population is under the age of 35, the Rector urged students to rise as changemakers. ‘Leadership is a divine responsibility,’ he said, citing Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah as a model of purposeful leadership.

‘We must live for others, understand their pain, and help those in need. Education is the greatest equalizer, and NUML will continue supporting talented students who lack resources.’

He concluded with a powerful reminder: ‘Make a good name in society – not for applause, but for the sake of Allah. If NUML students stand out, NUML will stand out.’

The festival commenced earlier in the week with a grand opening ceremony attended by ambassadors, cultural attachés, and diplomatic representatives from around the world.

Cultural performances reflected the rich traditions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh, Kashmir, Hazara, the Saraiki belt, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Over 15 international cultural stalls offered visitors a glimpse into global customs, attire, and cuisines.

The closing ceremony concluded with a group photo, presentation of souvenirs to sponsors and dignitaries, and heartfelt celebrations among students and guests.

NUML Spring Festival 2025 leaves behind a vibrant legacy of diversity, creativity, and inspiration-reaffirming the university’s commitment to fostering not just academic excellence, but also a spirit of global citizenship.
