Nusrat Bhutto’s death anniversary observed: No top party leader joined the ceremony

LARKANA: The 11th death anniversary of Mother of Democracy, Begum Nusrat Bhutto, was observed at Bhutto House in Naundero on Sunday.

The local party leaders of the town held a Quran Khuwani and prayed for the departed soul. No top PPP leader took part in her anniversary commemoration despite her massive sacrifices. All top leaders, including PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, Ladies Wing chief Faryal Talpur, Sindh President Nisar Khuhro and others, remained absent from the main event and only relied on journalists to carry their messages on the eve.

In Naundero, Arshad Shah Rashdi, Anwer Buriro, Mehran Narejo, Bashiran Mohil, Shabana Domki, Subhan Khuhro and others participated in the recitation from Holy Book after which free food was distributed among the participants. Later, they also went to her grave in Garhi Khuda Bux and offered Fateha for her eternal peace. The activists also offered Fateha at the graves of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto, Mir Murtaza Bhutto and Shahnawaz Bhutto.

In Larkana, PPP-SB workers and followers of Fatima Bhutto also observed her death anniversary separately at their Kennedy Market office. They held Quran Khuwani which was participated by Inayat Umrani, Inamullah Narejo, Ghafar Chandio, Barkat Mirjat and others.

Umrani on the occasion said that the name of Begum Nusrat Bhutto will always be remembered in history in golden words for struggling and rendering unmatched services for the cause of restoration of democracy in Pakistan. He said that she challenged Gen Zia’s martial law in a very difficult time when all others were mum.
