OFID approves $54 loan for drinking water project in Uzbekistan

Tashkent The Board of Governors of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) has approved a loan worth $54 million to support a drinking water project in Uzbekistan.

The Press Service of Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the funds will be used to finance the project on the provision of drinking water in 22 settlements of Yangikurgan district and partly in the city of Namangan.

The project, which will provide more than 200,000 mostly rural residents of Namangan region with clean drinking water, is scheduled to be implemented during 2020-2025. The loan has a term of 20 years and a grace period of five years.
