Over 1,500 Students Showcase Innovations for Rs 200,000 Prize at Sindh Youth Festival

More than 1,500 students from across the province are participating in the three-day Sindh Youth Science and Technology Festival 2025, which commenced today with top performers competing for a prize pool exceeding 200,000 rupees. Organized by the Sindh Government, the event at the Sindh Youth Club in Gulistan-e-Jauhar aims to foster innovation and provide a platform for young talent in scientific and technological fields.

The festival was formally opened by Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar, the Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs. Following the inaugural ceremony, the minister, along with Sports Secretary Munawar Ali Mahesar, toured the exhibits, engaging with student creators and offering encouragement for their projects. The event is scheduled to conclude on November 30.

In his remarks, Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar noted the significant turnout, highlighting that over 70 students from more than 40 public and private universities have presented their creations. He cited the overall participation of more than 1,500 students from various schools and institutions as a measure of the event”s success. In addition to the prize fund, all participants are being provided with travel allowances (TA/DA), complimentary lodging, and meals.

To ensure impartial and technically sound evaluations, a judging panel of distinguished professors, industry experts, and professionals has been established. The minister explained that this body would assess each project on merit.

He stated that the Sindh Government”s support for the festival aligns with the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to facilitate youth advancement in science and technology, expressing optimism that the initiative will create new pathways and secure a bright future for the province.

The inaugural ceremony was also attended by several officials, including former Sports Secretary Abdul Aleem Lashari, Sports Director Asad Ishaq, and Deputy Director Syed Habibullah. Various Karachi District Sports Officers (DSOs) such as Ismail Shah, Fareed Ali, Muhammad Usman, Shakeel Ahmed, Sunny Parvez, and Hajra Nawab were also present.
