Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has stated that the Sindh government has directed its departments to halt the initiation of new development schemes until all existing projects are completed.
In a statement on Saturday, Memon revealed that out of more than 13,000 projects initiated across the province, 9,193 have now been completed in various sectors.
He added that work is ongoing on health, education, agriculture, roads, and irrigation projects, which are supported by Rs 367 billion in foreign aid and an additional Rs 76 billion from the federal Public Sector Development Program (PSDP).
Memon emphasized that the provincial government’s development vision is not just to launch new projects but to ensure the timely completion of projects and adherence to strict quality standards.
He described the swift completion and quality control of development works in Karachi as the cornerstone of this vision, stating that every scheme in the metropolis aims to improve the lives of residents and strengthen the city’s infrastructure.
The minister also mentioned that following the Chief Minister’s directives, urban master plans are being strictly enforced to prevent unplanned construction.
He also highlighted improvements in water supply, solid waste, and wastewater management in Jacobabad and other municipalities under the Sindh Municipal Services Delivery Program.
Memon concluded that the ultimate goal of all ongoing development projects is to guarantee public services, promote economic activities, and ensure sustainability. He stressed that the final measure of success is the timely and quality completion of every project that provides tangible benefits to the public.
