Overstaffing by previous regimes marred PIA: Haleem Adil

Karachi:Overstaffing on the basis of political nepotism during the government of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and other previous regimes marred the national flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), and this national institution is still carrying the unnecessary burden of thousands of surplus staffers recruited in the PPP rule, said Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Vice President and parliamentary party leader in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh here Wednesday.

According to details, PTI leaders Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Haleem Adil Sheikh and Baitul Mal Sindh president Hunaid Lakhani addressed a press conference at the Iqra University campus. Haleem Adil said that we are not against the 18th amendment, but we want its proper implementation. He said nobody knows where the funds granted under the 18th amendment go. He said these corrupt people devoured Rs15000bn during last 12 years in the name of the 18th amendment. He said the PTI would continue to expose the corrupt PPP government in Sindh. He said the PTI is organized in whole Sindh at grassroots level.

He said they send Saeed Ghani to talk on every matter. He asked is Saeed Ghani an aviation expert. He said the PPP government did nothing in the bomb blast case of Sehwan. He said when we reached the site of airplane incident we only saw police, rangers, army and Edhi volunteers. There was not a single ambulance of the Sindh government at the site. He said the report of this incident would be made public soon. He said the PPP should tell their performance about the incidents of Bojha and Air Blue crashes.

Haleem Adil said at the site of plane crash there were no disaster management department of Sindh government present. He said our whole team reached there timely. He said chief minister came later for just photo sessions He said we are in contact with the PIA and insurance company. He said we would ensure that the bereaved families are paid Rs5million more.

Haleem Adil said we are even launching a campaigning for the children of Lyari. He asked why no inquiry committee is yet to be formed against the corruption of Phopho (aunty). He said many people died due to rabid dog bite and drinking poisonous wine in Sindh. He said Sindh government has opened wine shops in the province and made them virtually ‘coronavirus free zones’. He said Mukesh Kumar is behind this scam of promoting alcoholism in Sindh. He said the Sindh government is closing down mosques and Imambargahs but opening the wine shops.

Firdous Shamim Naqvi said that two major airplane crashes were witnessed in the rule of PPP government. He said the previous rulers had devastated the PIA by recruiting more than 4500 surplus staff. He said when the rule of the PPP began the loss of PIA was Rs35billion. He said in the rule of Nawaz Sharif the accumulated loss of the PIA was Rs500 billion.

He said experts are probing into the causes of the plane crash, including the foreign experts. He said there is not a single cold storage for dead bodies in any Sindh government run hospital where 200 dead bodies could be kept at one time. He said there are not sufficient ventilator operators in the megacity. He said we will expose massive corruption in all departments of Sindh government.

He said Nisar Khuhro presented the statement of Sindh governor Imran Ismail out of context. He said we had demanded to implement Article 149. He said jobs were given through the Sindh Public Service Commission on the basis of fake domiciles. He said this is atrocity to the citizens of the megacity. He said I would like to ask from Prime Minister Imran Khan that till when he would be giving one more chance to the Sindh government.

Hunaid Lakhani said that the press conference of the leaders of the Sindh government was based on lies. He said Sindh is the only province of Pakistan where education graph is coming down. He said due to poor performance of the Sindh government Pakistan stands in the rank of countries like Somalia. He said the ministers of Sindh government themselves confess that there are more than 0.1million ghost teachers in Sindh.

He advised the Sindh government to hold one press conference about its own system, including recruitments, promotions and admissions. He said these people made false claims of Roti, Kapra and Makan. He said these people should work and serve in their constituencies. He said I appeal to Prime Minister Imran Khan to take action now. He said these people have made whole Sindh a Karbala, as there is not even drinking water in many areas of the province.
