Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced at the UN Climate Ambition Summit in New York that Pakistan has surpassed its greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.
Pakistan had set a target of 15% unconditional reduction by 2030.
Addressing the summit, co-hosted by the UN Secretary-General and the President of Brazil, Shehbaz Sharif said this target has already been achieved.
Pakistan has an overall reduction target of 50%.
The Prime Minister reiterated the country’s commitment to the global climate change agenda.
