Pakistan and Maldives establish strategic alliance to boost trade and bilateral partnership

Pakistan and the Maldives today signed a landmark agreement to significantly enhance their bilateral partnership, with a strategic focus on expanding trade, improving connectivity and building climate resilience.

The accord was cemented during high-level discussions between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his Maldivian counterpart, Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel. The productive meeting took place on the margins of the 4th EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum.

Both senior diplomats underscored the critical importance of maintaining consistent communication to further their common objectives. They highlighted the role of multilateral platforms as crucial venues for continuing dialogue and advancing shared priorities.
