Pakistan and Morocco Solidify Defence Ties with New Cooperation Pact

Pakistan and the Kingdom of Morocco have signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Defence Cooperation, cementing a new phase in their security relationship during an official visit by Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif.

According to official information today, the agreement was formalised during a three-day official tour to the North African nation by Federal Minister for Defence, Khawaja Muhammad Asif. The visit, which spans from 12 to 14 January 2026, included high-level discussions with his Moroccan counterpart, Mr. Abdellatif Loudiyi, Minister Delegate in charge of the National Defense Administration.

Minister Asif also led delegation-level talks and conferred separately with Mr. Nasser Bourita, the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, to explore avenues for enhanced collaboration.

Formal proceedings included a visit by the Defence Minister to the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, where he paid his respects and signed the official guest book. Following the diplomatic discussions, the delegations exchanged customary gifts, with Minister Asif presenting a Pakistan-manufactured football to the Moroccan Defence Minister.

The series of engagements allowed officials from both countries to address a wide spectrum of bilateral and regional matters, reaffirming a joint commitment to promoting peace and stability.

According to the Press Information Department, the visit is a testament to the enduring friendly relations between the two nations and highlights a mutual ambition to deepen their partnership in defence, security, and other strategic areas of shared interest.
