Pakistan and Tunisia Strengthen Ties, Tackle Regional Crises in Bilateral Consultations

Amid ongoing regional and international developments, Pakistan and Tunisia convened for high-level political consultations, exchanging views on critical situations in the Middle East, Palestine, and North Africa while agreeing to bolster coordination in multilateral forums.

According to an official statement by the Ministry of Foreing Affairs today, the 4th Round of Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) took place in the Tunisian capital. The Pakistani contingent was headed by Additional Foreign Secretary (Africa), Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, while Director General (Asia), Ambassador Slim Ghariani, led the Tunisian representatives.

Discussions encompassed the full scope of the two nations” relationship, covering political cooperation, trade, investment, and defence collaboration. The officials also explored strategies to deepen economic ties in preparation for the 10th Joint Commission Meeting, which is scheduled to be held in Islamabad in 2026.

A key outcome of the meeting was an agreement to enhance coordination within significant multilateral forums, specifically highlighting the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

In a separate engagement, Ambassador Khan met with H.E. Mr. Mohamed Ben Ayed, the Secretary of State to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad. During this meeting, both officials reaffirmed a mutual commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations and promote collaboration across all sectors.

The consultations are a continuation of the long-standing, cordial relations between Pakistan and Tunisia, which this year celebrate the 67th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties, founded on mutual respect and close cooperation.
