Pakistan and UAE Discuss Economic Cooperation and Cryptocurrency Regulation

In a significant diplomatic engagement, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, held a meeting with the United Arab Emirates’ Minister of State for Financial Affairs, H.E. Mohamed Bin Hadi Al Hussaini. The discussion focused on Pakistan’s economic indicators and the recent upgrade of its sovereign rating by Fitch, along with the country’s privatization agenda.

During the meeting, Senator Aurangzeb shared that Pakistan had successfully reached a Staff-Level Agreement on the first review under the Extended Fund Facility and a new arrangement under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility. He highlighted the robust interest of UAE investors in Pakistan at both government and business levels, advocating for the conversion of memorandums of understanding into tangible agreements.

Additionally, the Pakistani minister expressed a keen interest in learning from the UAE’s regulatory framework for cryptocurrency. As the meeting concluded, Senator Aurangzeb extended an invitation to H.E. Mohamed Bin Hadi Al Hussaini to visit Pakistan, underscoring the commitment to strengthen bilateral financial ties.
