Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has called the recently announced ceasefire between the US and Iran a major victory of diplomacy and negotiations, following weeks of facilitation efforts by Islamabad.
The ambassador revealed today that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts had been ongoing for several weeks, successfully culminating with an agreement to end hostilities and start negotiations.
Ambassador Sheikh expressed his appreciation for the trust placed in Pakistan by all parties involved in mediating the talks.
He noted that his country has consistently prioritised constructive diplomacy throughout its history, clarifying that Pakistan”s role in the current process is strictly that of a facilitator.
Rizwan Saeed Sheikh stressed that the ultimate power to make decisions remains with the respective parties involved, emphasising that Pakistan is contributing to the process with complete sincerity.
The Ambassador concluded by stating that the restoration of peace and stability would yield positive consequences not only for the Gulf region but also for international politics and the global economy.
