Iran has officially confirmed its participation in high-stakes negotiations with the United States to be hosted in Islamabad later this week, following a breakthrough ceasefire brokered by Pakistan.
The confirmation came during a telephone conversation on Wednesday afternoon between Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
The discussion between the two heads of state, described as warm and cordial, extended for more than forty-five minutes, according to a report todah. During the call, Prime Minister Sharif expressed profound gratitude for the prudence and insight demonstrated by the Iranian leadership in agreeing to the cessation of hostilities. He formally acknowledged their acceptance of Pakistan”s offer to facilitate the crucial talks and also sent his regards to Supreme Leader His Eminence Mojtaba Khamenei.
In his response, President Pezeshkian extended his thanks to the Prime Minister, lauding the pivotal role of the Pakistani leadership in orchestrating the temporary truce with the U.S. He also conveyed his best wishes to the people of Pakistan.
The two leaders concluded their conversation with an agreement to maintain close communication.
