Pakistan committed to building a prosperous society, says PM

Pakistan observed the International Day of Living Together in Peace, stressing its resolve to promote harmony and united communities on both the national and global fronts.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif stressed the nation’s historic commitment to peace by following the principles laid down by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and said that the Father of the Nation’s vision of honesty and fairness in dealings is the cornerstone of Pakistan’s identity, guiding efforts to build a cohesive society where every individual can live with dignity and respect.

Pakistan’s diverse cultural tapestry, characterised by a multitude of languages and traditions, is celebrated as a source of strength. Initiatives like Paigham-e-Pakistan aim to combat extremism by promoting unity and social cohesion.

The government has implemented significant policies to uphold human rights, such as the “National Action Plan on Human Rights,” which focuses on empowering women and protecting children and vulnerable groups. The country is also pioneering the “National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights” to ensure responsible business practices and safeguard labour rights.

Efforts to enhance institutional frameworks have been bolstered by the establishment of the National Commission for Human Rights and the formation of District Human Rights Committees. These bodies work towards promoting social harmony at the grassroots level, supported by strategies like the “National Strategy on Prevention of Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence” and the Minority Welfare Fund.

Legal reforms have been introduced to curb harmful societal practices, including the “ICT Domestic Violence Prevention and Protection Act 2026” and the “ICT Child Marriage Restraint Act 2025.” The “National Commission for Minority Rights Act 2025” has also been passed to further institutionalise the protection of minority rights.

Prime Minister Sharif called upon the youth, religious figures, and civil society members to champion the values of tolerance and coexistence, urging collective action towards a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan and world.
