Pakistan Condemns Washington Shooting, Alleges Link to Afghan-Based Terrorism

Pakistan today strongly condemned a shooting incident in Washington D.C., reportedly involving an Afghan national, and characterized the event as a targeted act of terrorism with clear linkages to Afghanistan.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government extended its thoughts and prayers to the departed soldier and wished the injured a swift and complete recovery. Heartfelt sympathies were also conveyed to the affected families, as well as to the government and people of the United States.

The ministry described the event as a “heinous assault on United States soil.” The statement drew a parallel to Pakistan”s own experiences, noting that for the past two decades, the country has endured countless similar terrorist incidents with explicit connections to its neighboring state.

This occurrence, according to the Foreign Office, signifies the challenges posed by transnational terrorism and underscores the need for enhanced global cooperation to confront this menace.

The incident was presented as heralding a “troubling resurgence of terrorism on a global scale.” The ministry called upon the international community to take note of this development and to reinvigorate collective efforts in counter-terrorism.

Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to working with the United States and the wider international community to address the shared challenge of terrorism.
