Pakistan Confronts Externally Sponsored Terrorism from Regional Rival

Pakistan has announced that it is grappling with terrorism sponsored by a neighboring adversary, raising alarms at an international forum. During a statement at the United Nations’ launch of the “Victims of Terrorism Association Network,” Jawad Ajmal, a Counselor at the Pakistan Mission, disclosed that Pakistan holds credible evidence linking a deadly attack on the Jaffar Express passenger train to external forces.

The tragic incident resulted in the loss of at least 30 lives, with numerous others taken hostage. Ajmal asserted that these acts were orchestrated by regional antagonists, intensifying the threat landscape in Pakistan. He urged the international community to take decisive action against both the terrorists and their facilitators.

Ajmal emphasized Pakistan’s resolute stance against terrorism in all its forms, including rightwing extremism, Islamophobia, racially and ethnically motivated acts of terror, and, most critically, statesponsored terrorism. The country seeks to hold those accountable who perpetuate these heinous crimes, underscoring its commitment to combating terrorism on all fronts.

The statement has drawn attention to the pressing need for global cooperation in addressing the menace of terrorism and the accountability of those who support such activities.
