Pakistan and Ghana have formalised their diplomatic engagement by signing two significant Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), paving the way for enhanced cooperation in critical sectors such as defence, economy, and information technology, following the inaugural Bilateral Political Consultations held in Ghana.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs information today, this landmark meeting, which took place on 26 January 2026, marks an important milestone in the relationship between the two nations. The Pakistani delegation was headed by Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, Additional Foreign Secretary, while the Ghanaian contingent was led by Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu, Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The agreements signed include a foundational MoU to establish a regular framework for Bilateral Political Consultations and a separate pact fostering collaboration between the Foreign Service Academy in Islamabad and the Ghana Foreign Service Institute.

During the dialogue, both parties reaffirmed their dedication to augmenting their decades-long relationship. The discussions encompassed a wide spectrum of potential collaboration, including tourism, cultural exchanges, health, and education, in addition to other areas of mutual interest.

It was mutually agreed that the next round of these high-level talks will be held in Islamabad in 2027, with the newly established institutional mechanism expected to foster more substantive and project-oriented cooperation between the two friendly countries.
