Pakistan Launches Comprehensive Plan to Repatriate Citizens from Iran Amid Regional Instability

The Government of Pakistan today initiated a series of proactive measures to facilitate the evacuation of its nationals from Iran and assist other citizens stranded overseas due to an evolving regional situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Thursday.

In a statement, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi announced that the ministry”s Crisis Management Unit (CMU) is now operating on a 24/7 basis to monitor developments and provide necessary support to affected Pakistanis.

Following a directive from the Prime Minister, Special Facilitation Desks have been established at Pakistan”s diplomatic missions abroad. These desks are tasked with aiding stranded individuals with visa processing, logistical support, and travel arrangements.

To streamline assistance, diplomatic posts have launched dedicated mobile applications, online registration portals, and emergency helplines for timely outreach. The missions are also in close coordination with host governments to secure essential consular services for the Pakistani diaspora.

The statement noted that with the partial restoration of air connectivity, some stranded Pakistanis have already begun returning to their destinations via commercial flights.

Mr. Andrabi reiterated the government”s full commitment to safeguarding the welfare of its overseas citizens and ensuring their safe and timely return. He directed concerned individuals to the Ministry”s website for emergency contact details, which were first publicised in a press release on 1 March 2026.
