Pakistan Railways Halts Fare Increases

In a move to ease the financial burden on citizens, Pakistan Railways will not implement any fare increases for its operational trains nationwide, according to Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi.

The decision was communicated during a today meeting where the minister briefed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the operational matters of the national rail service, citing public convenience and the current Gulf situation as key factors for maintaining existing ticket prices.

During the discussion, Prime Minister Sharif directed the ministry to accelerate reform measures designed to overhaul the railway into a modern, secure, and dependable transport system.

The premier instructed the railways minister to ensure the timely completion of all ongoing projects and to utilise available resources fully to provide the public with enhanced, safer, and more affordable travelling facilities.

Mr Sharif affirmed that the government is actively avoiding placing any additional financial pressure on the populace in light of current economic conditions. He emphasised the need to concentrate on improving the rail system”s efficiency as a means to increase revenue.

Reiterating his administration”s focus on a public welfare agenda, the Prime Minister expressed a commitment to improving the performance of all government departments to set the country on a path of development.
