Pakistan secures market access for cherry exports to China

Islamabad, July 24, 2023 (PPI-OT): Pakistan has secured market access for cherry exports to China. Under the protocol between General administrations of Customs, China and Department of Plant Protection of Pakistan’s Ministry of National Food Security and Research, 90 cherry orchards and 15 cold treatment facilities and packhouses from Pakistan can export cherries to China.

This will not only boost Pakistan’s exports but will also open up avenues to international markets. The agreement will especially benefit farmers of Gilgit Baltistan region as their main source of earning is based on cherries.

The relevant departments of the two countries are also working for up-gradation of more orchards and facilities in Pakistan to make them at par with international standards to achieve major shares in high end markets of Asia, Europe, the United States and Australia.
