Pakistan Signals Major Push to Bolster Economic and Diplomatic Ties with Moldova

Pakistan has signalled a significant strategic move to enhance its relationship with the Republic of Moldova, with the establishment of a new Honorary Consulate described as a milestone in strengthening diplomatic and economic cooperation.

The initiative was highlighted by the Chairman of the Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, during a prestigious ceremony in Dubai marking the appointment of Syed Kashif Ali as the new Honorary Consul.

According to the Senate office report today, in his keynote address as Chief Guest, Chairman Gilani affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding collaboration with Moldova across several priority sectors. These include trade, defence, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, information technology, as well as education and professional training.

He congratulated Mr. Ali on his appointment, characterising the opening of the new consulate as a reflection of a shared ambition to bolster bilateral relations and institutional links between the two countries.

The Senate Chairman also emphasised Pakistan”s increasing influence in parliamentary diplomacy, underscoring the vital role legislative bodies play in fostering international dialogue and building confidence.

Citing his leadership as the Founding Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), Mr. Gilani welcomed the announcement that Cambodia will host the forum”s second conference later this year, noting it as evidence of the initiative”s growing global recognition.

The ceremony, which was attended by an assembly of distinguished diplomats and international representatives, concluded by positioning the new Honorary Consulate as a crucial bridge for friendship and partnership between the two nations, reinforcing Pakistan”s commitment to forging stronger alliances with global partners.
