Pakistan Urges Arab-Islamic Task Force To Counter Israeli Aggression Against Qatar

Pakistan has called for the formation of an Arab-Islamic military unit to address Israel’s escalating belligerence and thwart its expansionist ambitions following an alleged attack on Qatar. This proposition was presented by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, during a preliminary gathering for the emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha.

Dar stated the assembly was necessitated by yet another unwarranted Israeli assault, this time targeting Qatar. He strongly denounced the aggression, labeling it a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and international law.

The minister highlighted the irony of Israel attacking a nation involved in mediating a Palestinian ceasefire alongside the U.S. and Egypt. He argued this act demonstrated Israel’s intent to destabilize global order, citing its actions against Palestinians over the past two years.

Pakistan pledged its unwavering support to Qatar, affirming its right to self-defense. Dar condemned the attack as an assault on diplomatic efforts. He revealed that Pakistan, along with Algeria and Somalia, had requested an emergency UN Security Council meeting to hold Israel responsible.

Pakistan also advocated for a UN Human Rights Council debate to address the aggression, urging Israel be held accountable for potential war crimes. Dar proposed the task force to observe Israel’s intentions and counter its policies, suspending its UN membership, and exploring further punitive actions.

He urged the Security Council to enforce an immediate ceasefire, ensure aid access to Gaza, and protect medical and UN personnel. A renewed, time-bound political process for a two-state solution was also emphasized.

Dar concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment, as a non-permanent Security Council member, to collaborate with the OIC and Arab nations to promote regional peace and the Palestinian right to self-determination.
