A new strategic partnership between nations in the Arctic and Himalayan regions has been proposed by Pakistan to collectively address the escalating threat of rapid glacial melt.
The call for enhanced collaboration was made by the Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, during a meeting with the Ambassador of Sweden to Pakistan, Alexandra Berg von Linde, in the capital, according to a report today.
The Minister articulated that closer cooperation between the two geographically distinct but climatically linked regions would be instrumental in advancing crucial research and developing joint policy responses to the mounting challenges posed by a warming planet.
Concurring with the need for a united global front, Ambassador Berg von Linde noted that climate challenges transcend national borders and demand collective international action.
The Ambassador also extended her congratulations to Dr. Musadik Malik on his official invitation to participate in the upcoming Arctic Circle Assembly, an event that underscores the global nature of the climate crisis.
